Practitioners and Clinics

  • Haven Therapeutic Massage

Owner and badass babe, Chantel, has created an oasis in the city. She specializes in massage therapy for women and the LGBTQ+ community living with symptoms of anxiety and depression. Her treatment style is slow, soothing, and intentional.

  • Synergy Sports Medicine

My friends and colleagues at Synergy are some of the best in the city. If you’re looking for a Sports Medicine Doctor, Physiotherapist, Osteopath, or TCM practitioner - look no further! They also offer movement classes to get you back to doing the things you love. If you need specific recommendations based on practitioner specialties, let me know and I’ll connect you with someone great.

  • Chris Pickrell, ND

Every time I visit Chris (Naturopathic Doctor and Registered Herbalist), I am blown away by his ability to truly listen and problem solve WITH me. He is a firm believer in affordable access to healthcare for everyone and offers a sliding scale on all services. One of my favourite things to do is attend Community Acupuncture at his clinic. Check it out!

Books and Web Content

  • Free to Move

Queer, non-binary, chronically ill, and delightfully silly founder, AK, has created an incredible online fitness space for LGBTQ+ folks. Their goal is to help people who want to feel good in their body, stronger in their daily life, and take care of their mental and physical health. I’m inspired by their instagram stories daily! Cute dog guaranteed.

  • The Body Keeps the Score

This book changed my life. It opened my eyes to the incredible ability of the human body to heal. It helped me understand myself better and led me to enrol in the three year Somatic Experiencing program (the basis for my body-oriented coaching). Author, Bessel van der Kolk, does a wonderful job telling stories of human resilience and exploring a wide range of healing modalities. Please support your local book stores.

  • Pain Recovery Strategies

This guidebook explains the basics of how pain works (which is super complicated and we learn more about it all the time) and provides guidance on how you might overcome persistent pain. I took a course with author and hilarious human, Greg Lehman (PT, DC), in 2019. He’s wonderful at simplifying information without ‘dumbing it down’. Understanding how pain works can be a game changer in your recovery. I’m always happy to share what I’ve learned!
